Hi Grumples,
I have been following this case from the start ..I have rarely commented on it...but this is just getting more ridiculous by the day......for example:
"The McCann's spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: "Contrary to renewed speculation in the Portuguese press, Gerry and Kate McCann wish to make it categorically clear that they have never, ever used sedatives on their children. To suggest otherwise is as outrageous as it is hurtful."
early on it was reported that the Portuguese police ask for the twins to be tested ..since they notice the children was not responsive when the police arrived on the scene when Maddie went missing..seems the police officers even picked them up and couldn't get them to wake up.....the McCann's refused this test...if they never sedated their children than why not let which ever ... blood/hair/urine test be done..if you have absolutely nothing to hide and you don't want speculation like this to happen..why not allow it.....how can anyone have confidence in this couple when they are unwilling to put their cards on the table for all to see.... refusing to answer like 40 some questions...how do they think people will view this type of action....now they want to sue for speculations being made...when they themselves has given cause for it... is pretty much a joke......
I don't know what has happen to this little girl...I don't know if her parents killed her or someone made off with her in the night..but what I do know..these parents are one odd lot....people who have nothing to hide would not refuse anything that could help clear a false allegation laid against them...they would not have problems answering questions when ask...only someone who is afraid of being tripped up would be hesitant.......you can't get "caught" in a truth..but you can with a lie.........from their actions I would say these two are far from being honest about some, if not all ,things surrounding their daughters disappearance.....
the one thing that I can see happening now with this Clarence Mitchell person on the scene..all the focus is going to be on attacking anyone who dares to question ...without questions there can be no answers..without answers the child's whereabouts or what has happened to her can never be found ...
..I have a really bad feeling this case will end up going unsolved..and there will be no justice had for this beautiful little girl.....it is just so sad.............

I agree, and I am embarrassed. I can remember when the Portuguese press started circulating the rumours (which could become a possibility), and anyone who criticised the McCanns in any way were 'vile and cruel'. Even when it looks like these criticisms are a strong possibility, they are still determine to absolve the McCanns of any blame, even child neglect. The Portuguese police have never been accused of incompetence before, and the family started doing it ONE day after Madeleine disappeared, which concerns me, as the investigation had just begun. You're right, it's NOT ludicrous, and as far as I'm concerned, it is quite feasible that the McCanns could be suspects. The media are clutching at straws, and if it turns out that the McCanns did do this (I hope they didn't), then the British press will look even more ridiculous, and they will get a lot of complaints. I'm not surprised that Britain is unpopular, and if anyone from another country is reading this - I HATE what the press have done, and in no way would I ever be pompous or behave like they have. Our press is an embarrassment to the people, and makes the people who have a different opinion to them seem like monsters. The PRESS are the monsters, and I'm ashamed to say that these newspapers are made in OUR country. We're not all like them, most of us are quite nice actually! :)

I think personally the laws surrounding liable action need to be reviewed. The system has turned so politically correct that people can get away with murder. If you take some of the actions that criminals take against the police it is ridiculous and to say that they have the right to sue is unjust. People do make mistakes with reports and claims at times but it is wrong to stop them from making any comment unless it is considered 100 per cent right. If the police want to say that the children were drugged and report it in the newspaper then I feel that they have the right to. If someone steps forward from the general public with evidence to back this claim up then it would be beneficial to the case. Personally I feel that the McCanns actions over the past few months have been more damaging to their image than the speculation of them drugging their children. I think that if they sue anyone it should be themselves.

The McCanns should not be allowed to manipulate the media for their own end. The more they continue to deny the freedom of speech just because they don't agree with what is being reported only serves to make them appear more guilty. They should have been detained in Portugal and then they might have realised that being an arguido is a serious thing.
EDIT.... Andrew T2...... you have me verrrrry intrigued...... time will tell. 14 people so far seem to agree with you too.

McCann Team have probably told McCanns. No blood was taken from the twins on the night, to check for sedatives, so this cannot be proved. Madeleine's blood wasn't tested so again no proof. (Remember Grandmother mentioned that the abductor could have used drugs to sedate Madeleine).
The McCanns probably did sedate their children otherwise how the heck would they know their children wouldn't get up??
So all this 'I'll sue you' lark is another sham from McCann
Edit: Andrew T2 you have me intrigued....

Yeah, the British press have been so professional, not xenophobic, racist, and lying about one of the best Police in Europe (don't even note that to be like that you have to include the British Police) and about the people in Portugal (most of them actually helped the McCanns with money or searching for MADELEINE) and very lucky not to be sued by the PJ...
Maybe the scale just falls to one side...
But soon will be the other side who will have more weight!

The power these two people have got is unbelievable!
Why?
Because they know too many people in high up places, ie. the government!
This case is going to end up unsolved!
I know the Portuguese ballsed up, but at least they have the balls to write what they think happened that night!
I mean even the forensics showed they had something to do with it!
Loving parents my ar$e!!!!
Yes it is wrong for them to be able to filter the media!
Who else gets that privilege?

The british press write what they want to write. They're so gullible.
The parents are always suspects at one point or another. It is totally stupid to believe otherwise. I used to get all het up about this subject.
What the public thinks holds no bearing whatsoever. If they're innocent then they face a guilt ridden life for the part they DID play in this. If they're guilty they'll probably never get caught.
I'm past caring one way or the other.

It's not *fair* reporting the McCanns want (and are getting) from the British press though, it's downright biased as they're assuming the McCanns are totally innocent of any wrong doing. That, to me, is as bad as accusing someone of being guilty if they're not.

Its absolutely wrong. I'm not sure why though but the British press seem to have no balls at all over this.
It doesnt matter really because very soon the headlines are gouing to read something like this>>>
"Gerry, Clarence and Kate in 9 some with other Tapas 7"
Night after night they sedated their kids so that they could plat their adult games.... One night Madeleine was overdosed...The cover up involved all of them because they are all complicit. Jane Tanner would have been struck off..so they work together to cover it up...
Soon Very Soon...
I will be posting this acusation widely today and will also be sending it Direct to the McCans via their website.
I will supply the McCanns lawyers my contact details if they dare sue me.
