In the beginning, there are 3 sisters that were dropping dishes and singing- lol but i just wanna know the main point of the movie. How does their culture affect their family? the community? What makes this family "exito" or succeed? (successful)

okay, here goes

It has to deal with familial expectations. For example, the middle sister is successful, but unhappy. She wants to be a cook and live on her own, her father thinks she should live at home and not be interested in cooking.. All of the family wants the youngest to go to college, and be more like them.. while she doesn't want it.. The older sister seems to be doing what the family wants, lives at home, decent job.. but is not in a relationship, so even she doesn't quite muster up... The girls accept the father as he is for the most part, as seen in the scene towards the end when he proposes.. his choice was not the one they would have thought, but they were happy.

The family succeeds because the talk about things.. they don't bottle it all up.. there are moments when it gets a bit... explosive.. but overall, they are very good at releasing the anger after it..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHHYbkPuYm4

and actually, the scene with the dishes.. is after they've been fighting.. so it's a bonding moment.. showing that even though they fight, they pull it back..
