I know that divorce and custody laws in the US differ so greatly from state to state. Why do people love giving the wrong advice to people on YA? I thought I was wrong to deny my ex-husband my address but only telephonic communication is dictated in our FL divorce decree and custody because the distance is greater than 350 miles it's different than in-state FL cases too. He does not have the explicit rights to do what he's done in the state we were divorced in. Ok, not a real question but gosh I look forward to my ex-husband falling flat on his face in court soon.....

You can't get divorce lawyers to even agree on the same tactics when going to court, so, why should you expect consistant or correct answers from experts-in-their-own-mind experts on YA? (grin)

I think people generalize because they do not know the divorce and custody laws in whatever state the person asking the question may be in, and because they either see things more objectively than the person asking the question or have been through something similar, they form an opinion.
On the other hand, the person asking the question has to analyze all the answers they get and see which ones help them, which ones should be ignored, and which ones are a waste of their time to even read. Even from reading what you say here I get the impression your ex was some kind of jerk so congradulations on the divorce.

The laws vary from state to state in most countries and this is where the confusion sets in and the questions are built from , if all state's abided by the same law there would be NO confusion and no 1 would move from 1 state to another state to over ride a law in the state they left.

This is so ridiculous how can you run a country that has so many differently based laws and expect the country to work properly? this is why governments should spend more time cleaning up their own back yards instead ot turning a blind eye and concentrating on taking over other countries like they were born into the ritchesnous (sp) of royalty to be kings of the world believing other countries smaller then their's or the same size should bow down and follow their lead.

Not all generalizations are wrong. What happens in your state does not reflect the laws in others. So you are being pretty unfair to those of us who tell others what we know from personal experience.

Most of us know a person who went though this or that and we base our knowledge on that
