Visit Microsoft Update and install the latest updates.
If you currently use antivirus software, visit the manufacturer's Web site, update your software, and then perform a thorough scan of your computer.
If you don't use antivirus software, subscribe to a service and scan your computer immediately.

It's crucial to keep your antivirus software current with the latest updates (usually called definition files) that help the tool identify and remove the latest threats.
In addition, not all antivirus tools are the same; if you find that the one you use isn't working to your satisfaction, you should do some research and try an alternative.

You can run some online (free) scans that will clean as well...

Try running your antivirus software in Safe Mode.

To get into Safe Mode:
>>>Power on
>>>When you begin to see the system working in black and white, checking memory, etc., press and hold the F8 key.
>>>Continue to hold F8 down until you see the black and white DOS menu. I believe Safe Mode is F3. Press it.
>>>Run your antivirus software. Windows will not be loaded and hopefully you will catch any self-executable files.
>>>When you EXIT Safe Mode, Restart. Windows loads and your desktop icons will probably be messed up. Just drag them back into place.
