Several of my uncles and cousins who used to stutter got the book "Self Therapy for the Stutterer" and worked through the steps until they overcame their stuttering. One uncle also went to a speech therapist who specialized in treating stuttering and he found that she used that book in her sessions. It can be found in the estore at www.stutteringhelp.org, at Amazon.com, and at some public libraries. You might join this group http://groups.myspace.com/stutteringfoundation and talk to Eva and the others, too. Eva stutters.

I used to be a stutterer when I was a kid. But I overcame it with a couple techniques that I figured out on my own. First, I noticed that I only stuttered when beginning sentences with certain consonant sounds. So I tried to begin sentences with sound I didn't stutter on and eventually that help me stop stuttering on all sounds. Second, I realized that I stuttered a lot more when I was nervous. So tried to calm myself down before speaking, which helped me stop stuttering and be more articulate all around.

I read that looking at himself in a mirror as he spoke eliminated a fellow's stutter.
The trouble there is obvious...the inconvenience and embarrassment of talking to a mirror.
There are medical, psychological ways to treat and cure stuttering. Google it.

I had a problem similar to stuttering, but I tended to repeat the end part of the phrase I just said. Silently, but I moved my mouth enough to clearly see I was repeating myself.

It took a year or so, of seriously keeping it in my head, and trying my hardest to stop myself from doing it. Try to make a conscious effort to control what you say, and make what you say clear and concise. If you keep it in the back of your mind and focus, it will resolve itself over time.
