Helps a lot if we know what Trojan. There are many types and some require specialized removal tools.

All removal tools listed below are free.

If you follow all the following steps it should get rid of your problem and prevent future problems.
------------------------------
Update your Full Time (Active) antivirus and run a full scan.

If you do not have active virus protection, install only one. All are excellent.

AVG Antivirus 7.5 Free Edition

http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10669237.html?tag=lst-0-1
or

or
Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic

---------------------------------------------------------
Update your Full Time (Active) spyware protection and run a full scan. If you do not have active spyware protection, install:

Windows Defender
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
---------------------------------------------------------
Install the following four programs and run weekly or at least monthly. You need all four. They are not a substitute for full time spyware and virus protection. They will greatly increase your protection. Install and run now.

Ad-Aware SE Personal (update + full scan)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

Spybot Search & Destroy (update + immunize + scan)
Do not enable Tea Timer and SDHelper
After installation: update + scan + immunize

SpywareBlaster: Update then open and click “enable all protection”.

SUPERAntiSpyware free version: (update + scan)

------------------------------
Install CCleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Do not install optional toolbar.
Removes tracking cookies, unneeded files, history
In options, set to run when computer starts.
Place cookies you want to keep in save list
-------------------------------------------------
Install either one not both:

McAfee Site Advisor: Internet Explorer and Firefox
http://www.siteadvisor.com/
McAfee SiteAdvisor helps protect you from all kinds of Web-based security threats including spyware, adware, spam, viruses, browser exploits, and online scams.

TrendProtect™
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/free_security_tools/trendprotect.php
TrendProtect is a FREE browser plug-in that helps you avoid Web pages with unwanted content and hidden threats.
--------------------------------
Note if a scan detects a problem but is unable to remove, start the computer in safe mode with the internet line disconnected and run a full scan.

In severe cases your system restore files will also be infected. In these cases you will need to turn off system restore to prevent malware hiding in the system restore files and reinfecting the computer during removal or during a future system restore. Turning off system restore deletes the system restore files.

Right click on "my computer"> Properties > System Restore Tab > Check box turn of system restore

After the malware is removed turn on system restore.

Do NOT download and install any more anti-virus programs unless you completely un-install any current anti-virus program.

The use of 2 anti-virus programs at the same time can cause major conflicts. The 2 scanning engines will fight each other to scan every file that you read, write or execute which can cause a slowdown. For the same reason, using 2 A-Vs can cause you to have less protection from the various malware, not more.

(Using an anti-spyware with an anti-virus is good, however and is recommended)

A much better solution, right now when your computer is severely infected, is the use of on-line scanners.

Run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install your current protections before using these.

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/

2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.
http://www.ewido.net/en/

These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.

Good luck.

i also recommend AVG, free. It's very good with almost no interference. It detected a trojan on my system a couple of days ago! If it can't heal the infected file you have the option of moving it into a vault, where you can delete it in a safe environment. DO NOT GO WITH NORTON- its a virus itself in my opinion. Used it before getting avg- It slows down your computer significantly and has a habit of crashing your system at the most unconvenient times.

go to the grisoft (makers of avg) if you want to download the avg free edition. I have pasted the URL below, hope it works.

Check the link below for 15 free security programs.

AVG Free is good and so is Avast. You can find them both at www.pcworld.com or at www.download.com. Download them. but then use Safe Mode to install and run them.

You should also install Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SUPER AntiSpyware, and Spyware Blaster. Look for them at the same web sites as above. They are all free.

You should also switch to Firefox as your browser if you haven't already. Internet Explorer is full of security holes and too risky to use to surf the Internet.

Switch off System Restore as back up files may be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.

Download avg antispyware and run it. Then delete what it finds. Then run ccleaner(ccleaner.com) then restart. then run the avg cleaner again to see if its on there. And hope its not on there. If u cant get it off then try asqared antimalware.(emsisoft.com). If that dont work go use spysweeper. (webroot.com) Avg is what took all of my trojans off my pc. If u need any other help please feel free to IM or email me any time thanks.

I'm sorry I don't know. My friend said she got a Trojan Horse last week and had to take it to the electronics store. They said that they couldn't guarantee that they could restore her computer.
