It's go nothing to do with street smarts. It has to do with how many course you take each semester and how you pass them.

It also depends on the field.

Also schools LIKE to drag their feet.

If a DISSERATION is required it can take one or two years for ALL the staffers to READ IT.

A DISSERTATION Doctor usually takes 10-12 years to get their OFFICIAL PH D

Orals Board or Written TEST is different.

Orals Board is for like Clinical Psycholgists. That's 8 years

WRitten test is for like MEdical Doctor and that's 8-9 years.

A Dissertation, first you have to make a proposal that is reviewed by your Mentor Advisor.

Then you have to DO it, that can take a year to get grants and a year to do it.

Then the ADVISOR goes over it and makes you re-do it.

Then the DEPARTMENT, all 12 or 15 full Professors have to READ IT and comment and approve it.

ALL of these guys are TEACHING at least ONE CLASS, half of them are doing their own RESEARCH project on GRANT and the other half likes to play golf.

So you ahve to WAIT for them to read it and comment and approve it.

It's a conspiracy to make a 7 year project take 12 years.

I would say it depends on how fast the "street smart" person could become a "book smart" person, but on average...probably around 8-10 years.

I disagree with the comment above mine. You do NOT need to be cold and callous to be a doctor. The best doctors our there are the ones who are loving and take the time to explain medical matters with you, along with anything that is concerning you.

Being street smart wouldn't change anything. It will take you four years to get through college, four years for medical school, and from one to five years for a residency.

Most of the doctors I have ever met were NOT street smart. You really need to be cold and callous to be a doctor.

about 10 years, start to finish.
