I think you can teach yourself to think outside the box.

A good first step is to encourage yourself to ask questions that seem contrary or impossible. An example might be:

Could you build a functioning car with no wheels. Here I've just removed a necessary piece from our general definition of a car. The answers I come up with might be useless or daft, but as long as I try to consider the question seriously it'll make me think creatively. It may also lead you to consider broader questions like, "well, what's the point of a car? Can its function be fulfilled without even having a moving box that carries people.

Practice taking short vacations from what you know is true and see if there's anything interesting you come up with. To take a religious example, if you were an atheist you might ask - is there a benefit to believing in God. If you were a believer you might ask yourself, "is there an upside to changing my beliefs", or "what's the consequence if some other religion is right". Challenge yourself and what you know.

Kids tend to think outside the box because they don't yet know where the box begins and ends. Take a look at young kids a they encounter something new. You can almost see their thoughts running through their heads. It's a good reminder that at one point in your life, you had many fewer preconceptions about the world.

Open the box, remove the packing , say warm and loving things to the mind and if all esle fails promise it a deep thought.

Seriously, if you you want something out of a box you have to go into the box to remove it. If you can't get back out of the box then you perhaps it is a pretty unescapable box. Of course to do this, you have to concede that the box exists and there in lies the trap. Once something exists do you necessarily want to make it disappear, and if you do are you right in doing so? Think about the box. What did it do to make you want it gone? And if it is gone can you ever bring it back? Hmmm.

But the answer remains get into the box with the person and prove that the box is escapable and that there are no serious consequences to thinking outside the box.

And if that doesn't work, talk dirty to it.

Definition of "thinking inside the box"

Being unable to see an issue objectively.

Can we learn to be objective? Of course we can. How?

By meticulously applying the method of logic. Logical thinking is the method that detects fallacies and contradictions with reality.

Logical reasoning is the only tool we have to distinguish the true from the false, the real from the unreal, the just from the unjust, and the moral from the immoral. One is not infallible, but in recognizing contradictions, one learns to thinlk "outside the box."

It will never be taught,Its a state of mind.To know there is more than what people think life is like.Like going to school ,getting married ,having kids.To think outside of this Is called Passion. To want to stand on the edge of a volcano and feel love to the extreme even if its not forever.Do do the things your heart desires and not listen to the people who wish they could live your life.Taking risks, following the dreams you had and most importent to do the things you think you can not do

The best way is to train your mind to search for practical but intuitive solutions. So you tap into your intuition and use it to search. Here's an example. Yesterday I was talking to my son about how those giant cruise ships have been running into whales (somewhere near Mexico and San Diego). Almost immediately he proposed that the ships come up with a "whale whistle" - some kind of underwater sonar warning device. He came up with the idea, because where I live we sometimes need to have "deer whistles" on our cars to warn off the deer.

you don't teach the mind anything....thinking outside the box just comes when it comes....can't prepare, can't train. It's something everyone can do, you just need to wait for your moment and do what I do.....GO WITH THE FLOW!
