I am starting school next month, for cosmetology. I am feeling very torn between 2 schools. One is closer to my house and is where I had originally planned on going. The other is further and holds classes for 8 1/2 hours daily instead of 7 1/2. (This matters because I have a one year old son, and that will take time away from him, and add to my childcare costs.) I have gotten some bad feedback and good feedback about the first school, but the 2nd school seems to have nicer facilites. If anyone is from the MN area, the first school is Scot Lewis (and uses Milady curriculum) and the 2nd is Regency (and uses Pivot Point) I am looking for advice on which school to pick. Please help!

I am also not from that area but by being closer to home you may have family that could take care of your child while you attended classes also cutting down on your costs. The first school might not get the best reviews but if that is what best fits your life for now choose that until it would be easier for you to attend the one you truly want.

I am not from that area or familiar with either school but my point of view would be to try the closest school first and if that doesn't work out, you may be able to transfer to the other hopefully even though the curriculum is different. Good luck with the schooling which ever you chose!!

If I were you, I would go to a salon or two in town that you would be interested in working for and ask them which school they would have greater respect for. As much as I like nice facilities, I wouldn't want to be away from my child longer if it didn't mean that I was getting better training.
