The singular form of magi; referring to a sorcerer, a warlock, or perhaps just someone of great wisdom(and thus mystery).

A Magus is one of the Magi that were trained in, and, followed Zoroastrianism. These three that carried the title Magus, anointed the baby Jesus with Frankincense and myrrh, and gave his parents enough Gold to escape to Egypt.

The response by SU is the most correct so far. Magus (or mage) is the singular for the word "magi." ("magoi" is another variant.) They were "magicians" in the original sense of the word, involved in esoteric wisdom, spellcasting, divination, and healing (or obstructing). The word is somewhat equivalent to wizard or sorcerer.

A Simon Magus traveled around the Middle East in the early years of christianity. His thing was reproducing the miracles of Jesus. According to reports he was good.
Good miracle worker, Magician or Showman? I don't know.

magus is a very... very...very high level mage.... lowest is casters.. they onli can cast a few spells.
next is healers as you can see.. they heal..
then its the magic... they can do many types of magic
mage/witchdoctor:.. well.. they are just better then magic
arc mage.. a teacher of the mages...
then its the magus..... that is all i can say.. i am a mage in training... hopefuly i become a full mage then a arc mage...^^
