I was bulimic for 4 months even though i knew how stupid it was. A couple of weeks ago i quit and i didn't find it very difficult, however my mom is taking me to the doctor for a checkup in a week and a half and she already has suspicions. I know you may say that i should tell my mom anyway but she is not an understanding or affectionate person. I really want to put this behind me and hope that no one will ever find out. What should i expect at the doctors, is there anything i can do beforehand to fix it, and what can i say to explain anything they do find? I really appreciate any help, thank you.

Even though it may be a little bit embarrassing telling your doctor is a good thing. They are forebidden by law to tell or share any of their patients business. It is okay because it is in the past. The commendable thing is that you have overcome what is a struggle for most young ladies. Great job!!! Be proud and don't stress about it.

Bulimia Nervosa is an eating disorder brought on by many factors including a familial trait of over-eating, depression, extreme stress, anxiety and more. General treatment may consist of anti-depressant medications and counselling. You don't have to tell your mom but you MUST tell your doctor about this. Bulimics often have medical problems caused by the disorder that can be life threatening with kidney and heart ailments among them. Good luck!

I am happy you have come to the conclusion that what you were doing was injurious to yourself and therefore took measures to stop it. Quit worrying about what the doctor will find out. The doctor is a confidential and professional person and so if you ask him/her not to divulge anything you consider private to your mom, he will. Good luck, sometimes our mom may seem hard on us, but they do want what is best for us.

Your docter is the one other person who SHOULD know about your bulemia They need to know your medical history - inlcuding any drug taking, whether you are sexually active, and especially if you have had an eating disorder. What happens if he misses something important that has been caused by your bulemia?? If he doesn't know that it's been a problem, how can he help with the after-effects?
You can ask to speak to the doctor alone, and your mother won't be told what you discussed unless you give permission.

If you are being honest with yourself, and you truly over it, just wait and see. I don't see a need to tell your mom in that case. If not, your doctor should know about it so that you can receive the best medical care.

You really need to tell your doctor. If you ask him to not tell your mother, he will have to respect your wishes.
The vomiting you did could have damaged your throat and digestive system, you are also at risk of being bulemic again. Your doctor needs to check out your throat and can offer medical treatment to help prevent future bulemia.
