Yes, I've asked a Doctor once when he was going to stop practicing and start doing it for real, coz I was sick of having to go back to him all the time, every time I went I said to reception 'Is Doctor S......... still practicing', and the answer was always 'Yes he is' So I'd sit down and wait. Then call me in and he'd practice on me and I be thinking, 'I hope he gets a bit more confident soon, I'm sick of being a Guinea Pig', so to speak. This carried on for years. Anyway I went back one day and asked the receptionist, 'Is Doctor S.......still practicing?' To which she replied, 'No, he's retired'. What a waste of flipping time that must have been for him, all those years practicing and he never qualified to join the real doctors who were confident enough to not have to practice all the bloody time.

Excellent point.....what other professions use the term practice?? Psychologist, physicians, dentists, you never hear "Um, yeah I have a thriving dump truck practice"

90% of doctoring is guessing . So I guess calling it "practice" is less scary than " guessing"

yes it is. they also say your "doctoring" something to alter it from its natural state. I would rather practice on myself. =)
