Well basically the PS3 can play Blue Ray movies.
With everything else, the Xbox 360 is on par or often even better than the PS3.
For example, take the report below. It compares the PS3's hardware capabilities with the Xbox 360s.
While it's true, that the PS3 has a lot of processors, Sony had the stupid idea, to make 7 Cell processors working with streaming floating point instructions.
However, these calculations are mostly unused in games.
So basically you can say, the 8 Cells are just there to impress.
The general purpose calculations that are used in games, can be done on the Xbox's 3 CPUs, while the PS3 only reserves one general purpose CPU.
So, while the games look the same on the TV, there is more processing power behind the Xbox 360 to make faster framerates (60 fps in Madden on the Xbox 360 as compared to 30 fps on the PS3), or give the computer generated enemies more artificial intelligence.

this is all only opinion. 360's are genereally targeted extra in the direction of jsut the hardcore gamer with titles like gears of conflict. It does no longer placed a lot of an emphasis on multimedia. The ps3, even as no longer the most familiar in words of video games is able to somethings that the 360 isn't for instance the blu ray participant. all of it comes all the way down to what you'd be utilizing it for.

IBM has announced it is ceasing production of the Cell 8 core processor used for the system due to huge sales losses. I think with further developement the PS3 would have been an awsome idea but this news unfortunately dooms the PS3 to existing components and once the components run out it goes the way of the Sega Dreamcast.

Gamewise, the games look the same. Some games the 360 looks better while other games the PS3 looks better. As for the content of games, they both have the same content with only few exceptions that I am aware of (GTA IV is going to have more content on the 360). The PS3 is supposed to be more powerful but game developers dont use it to its full potential because its very complicated and it takes more work (which means that games would have to be more expensive)

As far as graphics, ps3 and xbox are about the same. You can really only notice it if you use high def. I can answer this question pretty easily, sure the ps3 had tons of crap in it that supposedly makes it better. I've got three words for Sony, Halo 3, and Xbox Live. Those are the things that Sony dosen't have and those are the things that are gonna put Sony out of the race, they just can't compete with the Microsoft Juggernaut.

When the Playstation 3 was first released, it seemed that the Xbox 360 was beating it in graphics. Multi-platform games were compared and visually, things looked better on the 360. As time passed and developers learned more about how to develop for the PS3, its graphics became equal with that of the 360. Now PS3 games are starting to look better then their 360 counterparts. This can be seen in EA's Skate.
As to contents, in theory since the PS3 is using Blu-ray discs it can hold more contents. Some developers are starting to take full advantage of this as we see more and more PS3 with uncompressed files and extra content.
Game wise, the PS3 library at the moment is suffering but the future looks bright, Developers are starting to take more advantage of the power the PS3 overs. This can clearly be seen in upcoming games such as Unreal Tournament 3. Drakes Fortune, Grand Turismo 5, Killzone 2, LittlebigPlanet, etc(all exclusives for the PS3)

well, the games are and will look the same graphics-wise. the xbox 360 is cheaper, so it's worth it. teh ps3 is better, but still too overpriced. my pick is the x360 because of the games.

the 360 can't be turned into a working George Forman style grill. the cell processor only uses 6 cores for games and is just hype.
