You'll probably need a degree in psychology, but check with Canadian Universities to be sure. Look in the University Library for psychology journals that discuss it. You may also consider teaching as a way into the field.

Stony, I still haven't heard the song you wanted. I haven't forgotten. Jeanne

Hi,

The American Art Therapy Association web site offers all sorts of tips and suggestions on how to break into this popular field.

On the site's FAQ, there's a question on how to find a job as an art therapist. Here's their answer...

"There are a number of resources available to an art therapist seeking employment, including college placement offices, contacts formed during internship placements, and professional organizations newsletters and journals. Memberships in the AATA and AATA Affiliate Chapters, federal and state employers, and job information banks (such as the AATA Members Only job postings) are also resources for employment opportunities."

For more on the requirements on accreditation, see the link below.

good luck!

Mike

start with a major in Art Education and or Psychology. Then go for an Ed.d in Educational psychology and take electives in art and art interpretation. Do an intership under an experienced art therapist.

i'm fairly particular this may be an spectacular job that is very problematic to discover. in case you pursue it, you may could be prepared to relocate. confirm you verify into the standards for this job, and in case you return to a call to pass to college, opt for a school that meets those standards.
