Open the drive in the Files explorer, right click and choose properties. Choose "disk cleanup". This should remove extra stuff. You can also clear out IE temp files and other detritus using it's tools.

Hey...if you got windows installed on your system, go to My Computer, right click on the C: drive (or the default drive) and click on properties. A window will open, there you will see an option of Disk Cleanup...do that, and your laptop will get well. I have the same laptop, and i use this option all the time. It basically cleans all the unused and unwanted registry files, the temporary files stored by internet browsers and many other unwanted extra files. Do this, and you'll get back your lost hard disk space.

windows takes up 10% of your hard drive for it's virtual memory.then all the temp files that internet explorer needs to save web pages for the sites you have visited. plus all the other temp files for other programs needed.
soo you see hard drive space gets eaten up very quickly. so try doing a disk cleanup and get rid of all them cookies, temp files,or other things

well a 160GB hdd only has around 137GB, it sounds like some program is chacheing files you should check this C:\WINDOWS\Temp see how full it is if it's not look in the windows Dir for a folder oddly large and check it out, it is possible that you have a virus but i doubt it.
