The size of helmets is really only a guide of what you should try on. Of the same size, you'll find one make really comfortable and another make unbearable. Go to a big outlet with lots of different brands and sizes in stock and try on until you find one which you like and fits snug on your head which doesn't move without the strap done up. Ultimately, full face helmets are safer/offer better protection all round, but become unbearably hot riding MX or tight supermotos where you haven't got a lot of speed to generate air to cool you down. Goggles take some getting used to but both types of helmets are designed for a specific type of use. Motocross helmet for dirt, full face for the street. The half of three quarter helmets are dangerous things, unless you like to crash and scrape your chin on a hard surface.

If I were you, I would keep it, that is a treasure to keep, you would be stupid to give it up.
