A hang glider who started at 7:55 am has traveled at a constant speed (as shown on the table)

Time:8:00am
Distance Traveled: 2miles

Time:8:30am
Distance Traveled: 14miles

if the line that represents the hang gliders distance traveled is graphed, which is a true interpretation of the slope?

a) the glider is traveling 24 miles per hour
b)16 miles per hour
c)12 miles per minute
d)7 miles per minute.

Please tell me what formula or how ever you solved this. lol im just confused.

Thank you!!!!

The answer is A since 800 to 830 is 12 miles and is 30 mins there fore 12*2=24(miles) so is 30*2= 60(mins)=1 hour
so the answer is 24 miles per hour~!!!!

You could have a graph where the horizontal axis is the time. Begin the graph at t = 8.0
The vertical axis is the distance traveled. Begin at 0.

Plot these two points:

(8.0, 2.0)
meaning: at 8 o'clock, the distance traveled was 2 miles.

(8.5, 14)
at "8 and a half" (8:30), the distance traveled was 14 miles.

Join the two point. You will get a line that is very steep.

The slope is (14-2 = 12) in 0.5 hour. How much would the difference be for a whole hour? That is the value of the slope (and the speed of the glider).

this hanglider is traveling at 2 miles per 5 minutes!
the way to tell this is from 7:55 to 8:00 he traveled 2 miles
and from 7:55 to 8:30 he traveled 14 so the first is 2 miles per 5 minutes the second is 14 miles per 35 minutes which is also 2 miles per 5 minutes
now if every 5 minutes he travels 2 mi so then in in an hour which is 12 times minutes we have 12 times 2 mi or 24 mi per hour

a

5 minutes/2 miles = 2.5 minutes for 1 mile
35 min/14m=2.5 minutes for 1 mile
60/2.5=24mph
