My windows media player plays video very slowly or choppy while the sound is quite normal. Is there something I can add or do to my computer to change this? Or should I delete some software programs?

it is because you have a poor graphics card.. upgrade your graphics card and it will be alright. but try checking other videos first, if it is still choppy and very slow, your graphics should be upgraded. sometimes it could be the video you are playing that is choppy. so check them out first.

Yout probably have some competing software installed. Uninstall all media programs except Windows Media Player.. Reboot after every uninstall. Let us know if that helps.

Defently you can do something about it. first of all you didn't provide some details about your machine, if your machine is an old one that's may be the problem ( too slow ). the problem might be also with ur codecs, try to download codec package from www.free-codecs.com that's also might help. if your computer is oveloaded with softwares as you said you can stop their progress in the task manager and than try again the film
