I am really freaking out here, please help me. Tomorrow (Thursday) we're supposed to start our swimming unit in school. I love this unit and I'm really pumped, but I'm supposed to get my period on Friday. Now I've only been getting it for a year, so it's still really unstable. I never know when I'm going to get it. I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm really afraid I might get it before I have to swim or while I'm in the water! If I miss the first day my teacher will get furious, and besides my mom is making me swim. So what can I do? Any suggestions?? I don't know how to use a tampon so please suggest something else! Please help me! :*(

Don't worry for one, stress could make it come earlier. I doubt you'll get it while you're swimming, and if you do, you could probably get by with it, especially if your flow is normally light, cold water makes mine stop completely. Since it's still unstable, it will probably be a few days late anyway. Good luck :]

I'm the same way, I just got mine a little while ago and we're about to start our swim unit in November!! I'm supposed to get mine the first week of every month and it hasn't happened that way since it's so unstable but I will let you know that you won't get it in the water. For some reason, it just stops in the water, I'm always afraid that I'm going to bleed a little in the shower but I don't because it just doesn't happen that way for some reason!! Also, if you get a note from your mom then I'm pretty sure your teacher will excuse you and I know that it's really scary to start using tampons!! It's gonna be kinda weird at first but once you get the hang of it it's not that bad! I know it seems like it's gonna be really awkward to ask your mom about tampons but if you don't want to have to worry so much you just need to talk to her!! it's not like she has to come in the bathroom with you or anything and she can just give you a few tips and once you put the tampon in, if it feels uncomfortable you just take it out and try again! There is no way you can get hurt by putting a tampon in so I hope this helps!!! good luck!!!

I hate to say it but tampons seem like the best choice. They really aren't that bad and are easy to use. The directions are all there on the box, thats how I learned. They even make a small size, I think they are called "Slim" or something if you are afraid of sticking something up there for the first time. That would last you through a period of swimming unless you are very heavy.

Learn how to use a tampon, it is not difficult. Read the directions and take your time, you must be relaxed and calm or your will tense your muscles and it won't be easy.
They make a smaller teen sized tampon which I suggest, I think it's Tampax that makes it.
Don't worry, you can do this, it is easy once you do it the first time, then you can swim all you want and not worry anymore.

I don't know how to use tampons either. Maybe letting your teacher know that it's that time of the month will excuse you. Tell her about it. I'm pretty sure that sice she's a girl she'll understand. To have help and tips and advice and stuff you could chek out beinggirl.com or just google. You can even ask your mom or one of your friends how to use a tampon if you find that comfortable to talk about. Good Luck!

When you buy tampons, there's always instructions and illustrations as to how to use a tampon. That's how I learned, and now, that's all I use.
