I'm sure Steinbrenner is watching the media and weighing his options. I'm also sure he sees that the majority of the populace is in support of Joe Torre. Fans from every major league team seem to understand that Torre has done a remarkable job over these past 12 seasons.

The disturbing aspect of Steinbrenner is that he is the kind of person who is not going to be told what he can or cannot do. It would be his nature to look at the popular outcry of support and then say to that same public, "You're not going to tell me what to do!" and than fire Torre just out of general principle. I'm afraid that is what he will probably do. Steinbrenner has never been good for baseball. I'm a Yankee fan only because I grew up with the Yankees and love the game, long before George bought the team.

If Joe Torre is kept they'll still be a powerhouse team. If they fire him then it's Rebuilding for the Yankees. And rebuilding and the Yankees do not go in a sentence. Torre is also one of the few who can take the pressure of th New York media.

I wouldn't mind having Joe Torre back for next year but maybe it is time for a change. We have to appreciate all he's done for new york but let's give someone else a shot. Maybe Matingly? My only concern is a few yankees may want to leave then and that might be too much of a change for me to handle. Especially if Rivera is gone

Yahoo should start a Yahoo! Debates page for these types of "questions".

Its interesting to see Rivera, Posada and even Arod sticking up for Torre, saying they might not come back if he doesn't. Cashman has some thinking to do. We'll find out Friday.

Torre is the right man to manage the Yankees, he should be retained.

Keep him. Torre is one of the best baseball men around. If he gets canned, it will be just another shining example of Steinbrenner's stupidity as only he can do it.
