2012 is the date that many say is the end of days. The Mayan calender ends in Dec 2012. Also native American beliefs say 2012 is the end. Chinese calenders and writings predict 2012 to be the end of day. for what ever reason, 2012 seems to be the date for time to end. An alignment of the planets and stars is supposed to change the poles of the Earth causing great devistation in 2012.

lol Peter D, yeah why is it that people have to fixate on the end of the world like that? The Mayan calender ended on 2012, but there is no evidence they thought the world was going to end. And I have never heard about anyone else (nostradaumus, who never ever predicted a date for anything whatsoever, all the crap he wrote was completely in random order, or the chinese as someone else said, or anyone else). I think if the world ends, it will happen when nobody expects it. Oh and there is no planetary alignment due in 2012 either.

PD your so clueless! The Mayans picked the date. Anybody up for a big party on 1/1/13, I bet that we'll still be here. If I had a $ for every time someone has predicted the end of the world it would pay for the party.

2012 is the most recent date the Chicken Littles have chosen as the end of the world. It replaces 2000, 1999, 1990, etc. (Check out the link for a more detailed list.) I don't know why these people want the world to end so badly.

well for me 0n the 12/12/ 2012 my duaghter will be 12 which i not sure if that coincidence, as for significance cant answer that one

It is the end of the Mayan calendar. There is a good explanation of why 2012 is the end date of their long calendar here. http://www.levity.com/eschaton/Why2012.html It has NOTHING to do with the end of the world and everything to do with math.

Nostradamus predicted that the world would end in 2012 and the myan calendar stops in 2012 and many scholars believe that's because they predicted the world would end that year.

many people said the world will end in 2012. but people also said the new millenium will cause destruction, and nothing happened. so it has been said for the world to come to an end, but its not true. (hopefully)
