In cricket & all other sports the team which has lost the previous match is usually under pressure of the winning team but when you are playing against Australia in cricket then that is absolutely opposite.
When you defeat Australia in a match, then you yourself are under enormous pressure because you know deep down in your heart that the Aussies will come back strongly.
Ponting has said that Australia will play it's best game in this match.
So Indian team has to be on their toes because in this match, you can bet your .. that Australia will not bowl that many wides & they will be even more sharp in the fielding.
I am sure Australia will play great cricket in this match because they are the champions & that too 'Undisputed'.
It's a test of character for the Indian team & Indian players & the only question is that 'Are the Indians mentally tough enough to cope with the pressure'?

So, i was right (as always).
Aussies have come back strongly. Sachin is at the crease & 5 others are out.
It's going to be difficult task now to survive all 50 overs. Forget about the big target.
Wicket is good for spinners. I think 240 will be required at least to compete with Australian batsmen.

Psych_gal - Indians aren't overconfident. Yes, they aren't mentally tough,that's why they struggle against Australia.
The only problem is inconsistency. Otherwise on a given day,Indian team can beat any team. And i am sure we could have easily defeated any other team.

Except for winning the toss, everything went wrong for india today and they had a very bad day, whereas Brett lee and Michael Johnson were in supurb form and Indian batsmen could not cope up with their bowling. It was totally pathetic and disappointing performance by India today and full credit should be given to brett Lee and Moichael Johnson.
If one really measure the bowling attack of both the teams, India bowling is not even 50% strong as compared to Australia's bowling resources, which is one of the main reason why India loose many matches than they manage to win.

Yes. Since India defeated Pakistan twice & Australia for the 20-20 match-ups, India proves to be a balanced bowling & batting Indian attacks VS Australia. India is on fire right now after winning the 20-20 championship however, the only way to test the limits of Indian fire cricket team is VS Australia for 50 over match-ups. How many one day internationals Indian cricket team is likely to win against Australian cricket team? I'll give a .01% of winning the series VS Australia.

The problem with Indian players is that they don't compliment each other.There are times when you must allow your confident partner at the other end to take the initiative without trying to prove himself at that instant.This affects our overall confidence. Running between the wickets also requires this quality.When we err in this aspect, we fail and fall a victim of circumstances.
Though we may start with some level of confidence to sustain it we should not make such mistakes.

Nope...nowhere close...the problem with the Indian cricket team is that they are hypocrites, they talk too much and perform less, they think that by winning the 20-20 world cup (which is nowhere as intense as 50 overs or a test) they rule the roost...thn they get overconfident.
In short, they are NOWHERE close to the Aussies when it comes to being mentally strong.
