America is the land of milk and honey, unfortunately not everybody has access to the milk honey. Without a doubt, America is the greatest nation that ever existed. You have listed some things like free public school, K-12. When you consider the wealth of America, our employment rate should be less than 0.1% versus ~5% with nearly every American living about the poverty line. Our capitalistic system highly rewards those with executive positions in government, business, entertainment, and etc. When the former CEO of Exxonmobil retires with a net worth of $500 million or P. Diddy (hip hop producer) has net worth of ~$350 or Alex Rodriguez (baseball player) has a net worth of ~$750 million, it is easy to see why poor people hate America. Are these individuals really "worth" that type of money? The American system is full of envy. The goal is get more money, money, money.
Unless you have had the opportunity to live in another country with poor people, we all can't appreciate the American system.

There is not a simple answer to your very poignant question and I applaud you for asking. Each citizen in our great country can grasp the opportunities available, but sometimes psychological and emotional issues come to play havoc with the opportunities available. Childhood abuse, neglect, spousal abuse, ignorance due to the prior reek havoc to one's psychological ability to grasp what is available. For instance, if a child has an abusive parent who does nothing more than abuse a child, that child knows nothing more unless a mentor (one who cares about that child, one who gives that child direction and love). A child needs direction, love, compassion and a safe place to fall. If a child doesn't receive the prior, they know nothing else, they don't know how to embrace society nor how to embrace the options available to them. We can help these children, maybe you can help them to find their direction. And, you are so right on target, America is great, we have to help those in need.

I cannot think of one American that I know, liberal, conservative, independent, libertarian etc., that hates America.
But, I also know nobody that is satisfied with the status quo. They all believe it can (and want it to) be better.
It is what makes America great. The form of government is of, by and for the people. But only if the people continue to demand it.
Unfortunately, we currently have an executive branch that believes our government is of , by and for their whims.

Let's see.The fact that millions of high paying manufacturing and tech jobs have been outsourced overseas and replaced with low paying manual labor and service industry jobs might have just a little bit to do with that whole poor thing.

Some people feel they are entitled. I don't mind people using government assistance, temporarily, to get back on their feet, but many people abuse this system. Then they complain because they aren't getting enough of OUR money. If you are capable of getting a job, get off your butt and get a job, don't let the government pay for you.

Poor people in the US for the most part have "made their own beds" - especially given all the tremendous opportunities in America to make something of one's life! BTW - the socialist lib's seem to be the largest block of America haters in the US!
