OK, ignoring the #1 bit, why is the Philippines popular? There are a number of reasons and a number of different groups that come here.

First, there are the folks who just want to see a natural paradise. The Philippines has some gorgeous locations. The service and hospitality at major resorts is excellent. Staying at them is a pleasure.

The Philippines can also be a very inexpensive destination. This is always nice for the traveller.

Sadly, the Philippines can also be a destination for sex tourists. Poverty in the Philippines makes it easy for men to come here and prey upon the desperation of some of the people. Manila have huge bars setup just to cater to the men who come here who want easy access to the prositutes.

There are also men who come here who avoid prositutes and try to get girls to have sex with them who think the men love them. Frankly, I think this is far worse. At least the prostitute is aware of the situation. These other girls think men love them and are tricked.

Why do foreign men come here for the women? My husband says "pinay are HOT" (then he laughs). When answering seriously he says that pinay are truly magandang and malambing. He says that many foreign men love the tan skin, long black hair, and exotic eyes of pinay. He also warns men: "NEVER MAKE A PINAY ANGRY. It's just bad. Bad." (what he means is that while pinay are very sweet, they can also be very angry)

France is the record holder. The number of arrivals for each year even exceeds the French population, like in 2003 where tourists topped 75 million when the French population was just 60.4 million.

I am sorry but you are very wrong....the Philippines are not even advertised in England.....thailand probably gets more tourists in 1 month than the Philippines does in 1 year.

Of course a lot of American's think the world revolves around the USA. But they're pretty wrong... Most asians, europeans, australians, Japanese people go there because of great beaches, cheap costs of stuff, and there are plenty of hookers out there,,, $10 for the whole night.. Can't beat that!!!

ahh... I don't think that it is really true... although I want that to happen in the future,,,

for some reasons... maybe because we have lots of gorgeous beaches all over our islands... people are hospitable, friendly, and easy to communicate with (because they speak English, and other foreign languages)... lots of adventures, and lots of things to do (such as nightlife, shopping, touring, hiking, etc...)... cheaper than other countries (lots of things to buy, with enough/high quality, lots of shopping malls to go, cheaper accommodations, etc...)... lots of beautiful and exotic people (especially the Filipinas)... the cuisine is great!... diverse and westernized cultures... nice and tropical weather... and a lot more reasons!!!

1) They speak English. 2) It's cheap. 3) It's safe because there is a stable government/ democracy with a US presence. 4) They don't require visitors from some nations to have visas/ passports for short stays. 5) They have beautiful beaches.
