My teacher was talking bout it. Its extra credit. For some reason Jimmy Carter keeps poppin up in my head, but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

That would be Richard Nixon. It is on tape. He said it when Thompson was appointed one of the counsel to the Watergate Committee.

It was Richard Milhous Nixon. But, at the time of the Nixon Presidency, Fred Thompson served as Minority Counsel for the Senate Select Committee on Campaign Practices, better known as the Senate Watergate Committee. So, considering that Nixon resigned from office in the wake of revelations made by Alexander Butterfield testifying about the existence of the taping system at the White House, one wouldn't expect Nixon to hail Thompson as some sort of hero.
BTW, throw this in for more extra credit. One of the junior attorneys on Thompson's staff in that assignment was Hillary Rodham. She is now Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and a candidate for President.

Nixon is the correct answer. A better question is why is your teacher bringing it up? Is the a hidden agenda there or is it a historical obscurity that was somehow relevant in a modern history or political science class?

Jimmy Carter thinks everyone is stupid but him. Jimmy has hoof & mouth disease; everytime he opens his mouth he sticks his hoof in it.
