Is being cynical something to be proud of or not somethig to be proud? I feel being cynical keep me on my toes. Always looking out and analyzing what I see and hear. I'm not cynical to the point where I'm rude and mean to people!

But what do you think, being a cynical person something to proud of or not?

I find it difficult to believe that you are rude and mean to people unless they insult you.

Being cynical means that you can see the other side of issues that most other people simply cannot understand. They have been conditioned to accept a shallow and meaningless existence without question.

"Society" needs a few more cynics and people who are ready to try to make a difference. You can be proud of the way you think right now.

I don't get it either and never have understood it. For me it would take too much energy of psyche to be cynical about everything. A baby is not born cynical. Somewhere along the line a person makes a choice to be so. I just ignored that choice when the first time came to me and still do. Life is too short to be cynical. I don't think I've ever heard of a cynical person having a long life time. Below is a link that discusses this in some manner. I would think that if I took the energy to become a cynic. It would be about as thrilling as finding kitchen equipment for my restaurant. And at this time neither one of those options is on the horizon. Edit. Yeah I know I'll probably get the raspberries now for the link.

Cynicism is defined as revolving around self-interest. You can still look out and analyze what you see and hear, but you don't have to do it for selfish reasons. As long as you are not being rude or hurting anyone, maybe you just need a slight adjustment. Good luck.

i am not cynical as I am cautious. You may not be as cynical as u think. I called myself cynical, and my oldest daughter called me cautious. I like that label better!
