Bugatti Veyron is the fastest production car sold. It was actually DRIVEN at 253mph on a closed test track in Germany. The THRUST jet car exceeded the speed of sound but it's one of a kind. There are many, many special built and racing cars that exceed 300+ mph (like a top fuel dragster) but the Veyron is the only vehicle I know of that will go those speeds straight off the assembly line.
(gasp!)

Your question is soooo obscure - define 'quickest' please. incredible-velocity, acceleration, quickest-lap of a given song, quickest one million/4 mile drag-strip overall performance? elementary, changed, racing, or purpose-geared up one-off to interrupt a given record? no longer adequate suggestion there, sorry. Oh, and nonetheless the Ariel Atom with the V8 engine is geared to tug 'in common terms' approximately 175mph, that's going to out-develop up and out-corner and out-brake surprisingly much each little thing available whilst doing so. AND the ridiculous Veyron is beset with the priority of RAMPANT gas-intake, because of the fact of that's LUDICROUS weight. that's been specified that the gas-tanks empty in below 12 minutes while the motor vehicle is being pushed quickly - so after in common terms some 50 miles or so, you will possibly could desire to tug in to a conveniently-placed petrol station, go out the motor vehicle, pump a hundred and forty litres of gas, pay for it, come back into the motor vehicle, develop up back as much as velocity, and 12 minutes later, try this all and sundry returned! meanwhile, something as mundane as a slippery Audi with a quicker-diesel engine can shield a lots larger widely used velocity, pulling some hundred miles of selection from its' tank. Tortoise and the Hare fantasy, yet returned. Veyrons are gruesome, fat, heavy, and that they suck. And an Ultima GTR is a lot swifter around the incredible-kit try-song.

The fastest production car is the Bugatti Veyron (253 MPH). Fastest production car means that this is the fastest car in production you can buy as a personal street car. But I don't know what the fastest car in the world is, sry.

The Thrust SSC, a british-designed jet car that holds the world land speed record of 763 mph, faster than the speed of sound.
This is the 3rd time I've answered this question - don't you people know how to use a search engine?
