I've noticed an increase in ants at my house (parents house)...in the pantry, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink. My apartment in Austin has an ant problem too.

My mom & dad keep the house very clean. My younger brothers even keep their rooms clean and still, there is a lot of ants.

Basically everyone has an ant problem in San Antonio. It's infested with ants. I used to work in a Greenery. Just go to your local WalMart or any greenery and get some Amdro to spread around the eaves of your house and your apartment in Austin.

The wetter than average year has caused an increase in the infestation of what the exterminators call "sugar ants". They have told me they come in due to the moisture in the ground.

I have found that even though we had our routine pest maintenance around the base of the house and the small area around the sink where we had seen then sprayed for them, they were back the next day. We keep the house clean, have a house keeper, and still get the ants. The exterminators say they are really bad in our part of town this year. Treating the base or eaves of the house might decrease the amount but ours has been treated with high pressure jets into the bricks 4 ft up the side of the house into all vents, around the eaves and overhangs, and in addition to the whole yard being broadcast there was special treatment 4 feet from the foundation and they are still coming in.

That is happening all over. I went to visit a home on the northeast part of town and he had a big infestation of ants in his back patio, he has tried everything.

I live towards Floresville on acreage and I have now seen ants in the master bathroom

Sister lives in the East Central area and she is experiencing ants in her kitchen and pantry also.

I don't know what is going on. I was told by an exterimantor that over the counter stuff is not going to work. Needless to say I have them coming in to exterminate this weekend.
I do not know what is causing this??

I don't live in San Antonio but wanted to comment on your question. Ant infestation can happen to anyone. Your best bet is to call Terminix or Orkin, & have your home sprayed, inside & out. It doesn't cost that much but is well worth it. You can also be set up on a regular schedule for house calls about every three months. We have Palmetto bugs down here in the south, along with fire ants, & Terminix takes care of our pests for us. When it rains a lot, the rain will force the ants out of their homes underground, causing them to run amuck inside & out.

It's the change in the weather that brings them in the house.

Yeah they're somewhat common this time of year. My mom hates them.oh hell one just ran across the keyboard!! [no lie] but I don't hate them, I do hate those giant variety of roaches we have down here in south Texas.
