Has anyone ever heard that large bodies of water can actually record events in time? If you have heard of this, I would appreciate a link, or some search engine keywords, because I cannot find anything. Thanks in advance!

The rivers that catch on fire from decades of industrial abuse tell the record of all the industries lining the banks and all the politicians who let the industries flush their chemicals and inflammable wastes, untreated into the rivers.

Another way history can be found in water. Water from the great lakes was once pure enough to drink. Now, there are parts per million of unnatural substances that are dangerous such as mercury and PCBs.
