My husband and I are expecting are first daughter. We have a 2 and a half year old so (Benny). We both love the name Lily and are positive that we are going to call her Lily. But, my husband has a friend that he has been friends with since they were three. Her name is Tiger and she has become one of my best friends. They promised (when they were in highschool that they would name a kid after them one day). She gave her first son my husbands first name. We were talking one night about the baby name and we thought about naming her Tigerlily but calling her Lily. We want to know if it sounds skanky.

It sounds stupid to me. What is Tiger's MIDDLE name? I would try going with that faster than I would go with Tiger. Her middle name has got to be normal... isn't it?

Well ... I must admit that I kind of like Tigerlily. And I'm not the type to embrace an overly unconventional name.

Is it skanky? Well, it's the tiniest bit trashy. I found a reference to the name Thora as a girl's name that means Tiger. An alternative might be Lily Thora. Or, of course, Lily Tiger.

And yet ... I think I might go for Tigerlily. It is a flower, and it almost feels like Rosemary - a similar rhythm, anyhow.

You'll get some flak, but Lily is the safest of nicknames.

Well, on the bright side Tigerlily is a lot better than Tiger in my opinion. Try using capitals or such to emphasise the feminine name Lily. Ex; TigerLily, Tiger-Lily. One of my children's middle names is Lily! I think it's a simply wonderful name. I really don't think Tigerlily (however you choose to write it) is skanky at all...not saything that I personally would use the name but it's definitely not skanky. It's just too native (if you will) for my taste. Lily is a simply lovely name. Great choice!

I think its cute. Besides, how is Tigerlily any different than Jasmine or Violet or Rose? What makes those names and Tigerlily not *shrug*

I think Lily by its self is cute too, and having a friend named Tiger would be adorable! lol!

I think Tigerlily has a sweet sound to it, and there are a lot of nickname possibilities. I think if you guys like it, go for it.

What about using Lily as a first name and Tiger as the middle name?

Tiger Lily? Doesn't sound good. Not skanky really. Just not good. You could actually name her Lily and sometimes call her Tiger Lily.

That's a lovely name. Tiger Lily is the name of a beautiful flower - there is absolutely nothing skanky about it. I think Tiger would be a great first name. :-)

Lillian Tiger..... if you name her Tigerlily and just call her Lily.. Tiger might have her feelings hurt if you dont use her name. Use it as a Middle name instead

Why would that sound skanky? I mean, if it does to you then maybe you shouldn't be naming her that. But isn't it a flower? It's a pretty name and I like the idea of calling her Lily for short.
