babies tend to double their birth weight by 5 months, so it seems as though he is on the right track. bravo for breast feeding. i just weaned my daughter off a few weeks ago. she is also 5 months. it seems as though he might not be nursing that often, you are only showing 5 times, however, he seems to be gaining weight just perfectly. i would suppose that your baby is just fine with his weight gain; since he is breastfed, he will tend to cut himself off when he is good and done. if your son is swallowing and not constantly pushing the food out of his mouth when offered, then he is ready for solids ie baby cereal - rice, and baby applesauce or so. i think that you are doing just fine and need to stop worrying. you're doing great and so is your son. enjoy him.

My son eats 6 oz of formula every 3 hours 5 - 6 times a day....cereal in the am and pm. He was 17 lbs 10 oz at his 4 month visit before he even started on cereal. He is not overweight at all. Has not started on fruit yet......he is 6 months old so I believe the Dr will give me the ok for fruits or veggies.

I think that when a mother nurses her children it is so much harder to know and trust that they get enough food. I also think that by the sound of it he is very healthy. At some point you have to accept that he is thriving (hard, I know) nursing really doesn't give us control over that.

I always felt very fortunate that I was able to nurse my kids but I remember having the same feeling you are having...you are doing good Mom, keep it up.

Mom son ate two jars of baby food in a sitting, plus another jar of fruits during the day, and nursed four times or more in a day, since about 4 months. So he's always ate much more than what you're feeding your son.

Mine's not over weight at all. You can see for yourself -->http://flickr.com/photos/61931273@N00/

He sounds fine to me.

You'll know if you overfeed him, he'll regurgitate it on your lap.

His behavior reminds me of my son's. Kudos to you for giving him the best nutrition possible; mother's milk!
