I heard somebody else mention the Yzerman similarities (Devellano actually) so I watched my old tapes of Stevie as a junior and some tapes of Toews that Pully gave me and they are remarkably similar. Better than being compared to Steve Avery

Say it ain't so, LITY!! You're in the Gretzky comparison game?

If Toews is the next Gretzky, does that make him better or worse than Crosby? LOL

I say he plays Poseidon to Gretzky's Zeus. How's that?

Toews is the next best thing we'll have. This kid is the real thing! Not only does he have great offensive and defensive skills but he is a leader. He is only 18 but will do fine with the big boys and I expect he will be captain of the Hawks shortly.

As I write; the Hawks are leading San Jose 1-0 and Toews got the goal (on his first NHL shot on net, I might add) assisted by another force to be reckoned with, Patrick Kane.

There is talk of Toews being like a Stevie Y. ...a well rounded player with amazing hockey sense and leadership, something that could be debated about Gretzky! I can't take anything away from Wayne, but if anybody can fill his skates (and very tightly) it's Toews.

I must admit I am a Hawk fan of 40 odd years. I watched the Hawks win their last Stanley Cup and I'm hoping Toews and Kane can bring it on home again. Give 'em a couple years. Check out the link below ...you'll get a few reputable views on this kid.

He is pretty good isn't he? He was way better than any of the others at the World Juniors and then he stepped in and played with the pros at the World Championships and not only kept up, he contributed. I doubt we'll ever see anyone score like Gretzky again but Toews will challenge Crosby one day for the Ross, I'm pretty sure of that.

BTW - did you ask this before he scored his first NHL goal tonight?

No Toewes won't put up the kind of numbers Gretzky did. He will be a better defensive player though.

Mark this night as special:
-Toews scores his 1st career goal in his 1st game
-Price wins his 1st game (against Crosby).
Those players will be heard from for the next 15-20 years!

I love Toews, he's going to be a superstar. I just wished he played for a bona fide hockey team like the Leafs or the Habs

We'll have to wait and see. If this q came from somebody other than you I'd have to say 'huh?' But, since in some teenagers' immortal words. "You're a bucket of knowledge." I'm going to have to say that you know more about hockey than I do.
