2 drives for OS where speed is a must (raid 0?) and another 2 drives just for storage purposes.. thats a total of 4 drives in my pc, what would be the best set up for this? ie. what controllers do i need etc..thanks.

well .. there are some hybrid raids out there now .. i personally like a mirror for the operating system because its rock solid .. and it boosts speed as well is a little known fact .. the drawback is it is only as large as one drive ... i have wd raptors in a mirror with my operating system on it and it runs like lightning and has never crashed in the year its been running .. also .. imo a storage drive doesnt need to be fast and i wouldnt trust raid with important data storage unless it was backed up somewhere else .. personal opinion ..

You either should get a 4 port card, 2 drives on RAID-0 and the other 2 run as normal for storage.

If this is the pref option, just a 2 port card will do as the onboard controller can run the other drives in normal mode.

For security, ie. we use RAID-6 with 8 drives for all our important data, but its expensive to implement.
