I'm really excited that the Phillies made it to the playoffs. What are your predictions for next year? More good things to come?

Ok, we all have an opinion on this issue. Here's mine.

1) Rowand walks because the Phils won't meet his salary demand. Victorino to center field.

2) Pat Burrell will have an above average season because he'll be in the final year of his contract, and will essentially be playing for his next contract.

3) Management will "pretend" to look for a third baseman, and settle for Greg Dobbs.

4) Management will "look" for bullpen help, and will overpay for an aging veteran who once was good in his prime, and no longer has his best stuff.

5) Management will "look" for another quality starter, and will overpay for an aging veteran who once was good in his prime, and no longer has his best stuff. ( Um, did I just say this again?)

6) They will release Jose Mesa ( Hoping and praying)

7) Charlie Manuel will lose 5-10 games for the team next year with his poor managerial game decisions, as he has done each of the years he's been here so far. Despite him, and the questionable additions to the pitching staff, the Phils will still make the post season.

I don't think they will be as good as this year. There are to many questions on this team. I think they will trade to get Mike Lowell, or Pedro Feliz. I'm not happy if they don't resign Rowand. I'm not a fan of Victorino at center. He's arm is to good and needs to play rightfield. I think Michael Bourn is an average player at best. I worry about: 3rd base, Center field, and right field and both relief and starting pitching. I don't know if Kyle Kendrick will be that good next season. Teams will have faced Kendrick. Maybee the can get Clemens. Between him and Moyer they may get a discount on AARP. At least the reports out of Philly now are that the Phillies ownership will be selling in the next 2-3 years. But I don't think the Phillies will go hard after big name players. I see people saying about relief pitching and starting pitching. There really is no good players in free agency in that area. And the ones that are free agents. There will be 30 other teams tha want them. And the Phillies will not sign a player for 3 years or more. And they will NOT overpay. If they get starting pitching it'll be a 4th or 5th starter. I don't see them getting a big name player in any trade. Because other teams want younger players. And the Phillies have nothing in the minors to trade. I've heard a "rumor" about this: Trading Mr.Softie Cole Hamels to Washington for Ryan Zimmerman. I think i'd do that.

I think they can win the NL East again and go to the World Series. The main priorities to make sure they repeat in the East is 1. RESIGN ROWAND! 2. SIGN STARTING PITCHERS! 3. GET SOME PEOPLE FOR THE BULLPEN! 4. FIND A QUALITY 3rd BASEMAN! Other than that the middle infield is signed through the end of the decade, the core of that team is there for a while. I'm still happy we beat the Mets this year, but Pat Gillick NEEDS to help Charlie Manuel! But I gotta say THE FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT!

this can be somewhat tousled. Being a Phillie Phan all my existence, and seeing it truly is purely incorrect. notwithstanding it wont be counted after the Phils repeat and massive apple is kicked out of the playoffs once back. All philly communities made the playoffs very last 365 days and the 365 days earlier. I didnt see all enormous apple communities make it contained in the previous years? also, the Giants and Jets should be said as the hot Jersey Giants, Whats the point of having a events team whos stadium isnt even contained in the state?

The Phillies are a wonderful ball club who are likley to make the playoffs next year.

The questions are,

Can Rollins repeat with his year?

Can the Mets CHOKE again?

Can Hamels be a Cy Young type pitcher?

They can win the division without a doubt if the Mets play like they have been playing this year. If the Mets play like the '06 METS. No.

The Phillies have had a decent club the last couple of years, they finally got a little taste of post-season baseball.I was in shock when I listened to Charlie Manuel in the post-game interviews the guy sounded like a friggin retard,as long as they have him in charge it looks bleak for a WS Championship.

As long as we get better relief pitchers and starting pitchers for that matter - as well as an exceptional replacement fr rowand if he leaves, we'll be great next year!! i am so excited =] once again, we will be the team to beat. and making the playoffs - tasting just a little bit of it, is going to make them want more - and they'll get it if they want it [clearly!]. The mets have a bad mindset right now, so we can over take them if we have the drive.....AGAIN! haha Maybe in '08 we won't have quite as many injuries either. lol

Just like every team, it will depend on the consistency of the pitching. They certainly have the line up to contend, and need not depend on the Mets to fold in order to compete. I'd like to see them re-sign Rowand and Romero and maybe pick up another starting pitching option. Mesa and Alfonseca have got to go. Gordon is okay, but his arm won't last.

Everything looks good, except for the bullpen.
That should qualify for fedeal disaster relief money.
