As Leona Helmsly once said -- "taxes are for little people"

Dittoheads and their bogus stats....

When you say, "Do you think this is stupid?" are you referring to your view of how much the rich pay in taxes? If so, then yes I think it is stupid, because it is way off. Did you know that the rich, pay the majority of taxes in this country. Didn't you ever hear the saying, "The more you make, the more they take"? If you don't believe me, ask anyone who does taxes. They can inform you better than anyone, what the percentages applied in the highest tax brackets are. The problem is that liberals are jealous of the rich and want to spread the wealth around because it gives them power over people. What better way to do this, than to tax the rich even more and then give it to the poor in the form of government handouts. It's sickening.

What makes you think the rich don't pay taxes for being so rich? That is nothing but liberal brainwashing. Rich people I know pay an exuberant amount of taxes, way more than your typical poor person, and at a higher rate. (Does that sound stupid?)

The Day the Poor actually Pay Taxes is the day we are rid of the Socialist scum that has created all these handout programs ,that they are getting rich from .An honest contribution from the corrupt bureaucracy that has been created from both sides of the aisle in Washington is what is lacking. The reason it is this way is because they need programs to manage so they can swindle the $'s from any one that is working period and paying taxes, class doesn't matter to the Politician just the money.

The poor don't pay taxes and the rich pay 85% of the taxes collected. I'd have to say that whoever's supplying you with this bogus information is the stupid one.

what country is that in...because the poor in American who make under 15,000 a year pay no taxes...and 15,000 in some countries would make you king...so lets gets some perspective on "poor"...would you favor a flat tax or a special tax for people who work hard and get rich...

Umm, not sure where you've been, but the rich pay more in taxes than anybody else.

Last month I made over $10,000 and paid $2,343 in taxes. So far, I've paid over $20,000 in taxes this year.

How much have you paid? How much have poor families paid (not that they SHOULD pay more, but I'm making a point)?

Exactly.

M&K surely you know that a family earning 32 grand or less with 2 kids acually gets more money back than paid all year. its called earned income creadit.

so again, the "poor" pay no federal and state taxes. 100% reimbursment on state taxes on income under 32 grand . it might be more, but 32 seems to stick in my head.

sure they pay sales tax, gas tax ect,,,,, but as for federal, they get back more than they pay

Almost 85% of all tax dollars that are collected by the government are paid by the top 25% of income earners(the rich as you call them)

You're wrong as are most of those who've answered this question.

The wealthy have the means, motive and opportunity to avoid (legally dodge, not 'evade') paying taxes. They can also invest their money in places where the poor can't. Above all, you fail to even consider, who owns what. In the UK, 1% of the population owns over one fifth of the wealth. I think they can afford to pay taxes!
