Although the hospital is the only place you'll get a definite answer, usually you can have 3-4 people with you while giving birth. Too many will get in the way of the staff. If I were you I wouldn't push the limit, for their sake and yours. Labor is hard work, and you might be in a lot of pain and too many staring faces might start annoying you after a while. Don't be afraid to ask someone to leave even if you previously invited them.

For a normal vaginal delivery that doesn't take place in the OR, you can usually have about as many people as will fit comfortably in the room - which is usually about 4 people max. Otherwise it gets too crowded.

The hospital may have a "policy" that it only allows so many people, but usually if you want more people you can ask the doctor and if there's room they will usually comply.

Just know that when you're pushing that baby, it's hard work, and you'll get warm, and those labor rooms are so small that all the extra bodies will make the room very warm and uncomfortable. I'd recommend having as few people as possible, keep it intimate and comfortable as possible.

As an L&D nurse I would say call the hospital and ask to be transfered to L&D and ask one of the nurses. Generally it is 3, but exceptions can be made. We are asked this question a lot and are happy to answer.

Don't be lazy. Pick up the phone and call them. If you have the chance to type out this question you have had the chance to call the hospital.
