The death of innocent people is always a sad thing.

I think it's a sad thing that a 14 year old is that mix up & no one was helping him. It seems that it must have been evident that this kid was troubled by the way he dressed & acted out in school. The fact that there was no guard on the school room floor & that the metal detector was not on might have prevented this from happening. Four people suffered &, at least one is dead because no one was doing their job, none of this had to happen. Perhaps this kid could have been helped before he resorted to this action if someone in the system or his parents had cared enough to help or do their duty.

It is sad that kids think they must solve issues by shooting up the school.

As for being picked on, that is a bunch of bunk.

From 1963-1975 I was picked in a total of four different schools I attended. Two were in Florida and two in Tennessee.

My sophomore year of High School (Rural Tennessee) I was walking up the Library Wing. About half way up the wing, another much taller boy than I, picked me up by my back belt loop, grabbed the back nape of my shirt, and tossed me up the hall like a sack of potatoes.

I hit the terrazzo floor with arms our in front of me like super man. My books stopped in middle of hallway outside Principals Office. The Principal stepped outside his office in time to see the kid toss me up the hall.

The Principal asked me if I was okay, Thank God I was able to get up (with the Principal's help) and walk away. The Principal asked the kid why he did it. His response: "Just for the hell of it!" The Principal gave him the third degree and three day suspension.

There were several unlocked Pickup trucks in the parking lot with the doors unlocked and loaded hunting rifles on the gun racks over the back window. It never crossed my mind to go to one of the trucks, grab the gun, walk back into the school and start shooting.

The Girls took me aside when I was in first grade when they started picking on me and told me to never let them see me cry because that is all they wanted was to see me cry. They never saw me cry.

Certainly a violent person is best out of society. The gun is irrelevant...a box cutter or broken bottle could have done similar damage.
