Your equation is already in the right format:
ax² + bx + c = 0
Your specific values are:
a = 3
b = -2
c = -2
Now plug that into the quadratic formula:
...... -b ± sqrt( b² - 4ac)
x = --------------------------
.................. 2a
...... -(-2) ± sqrt( (-2)² - 4(3)(-2) )
x = --------------------------------------
.................. 2(3)
...... 2 ± sqrt( 4 - (-24) )
x = --------------------------
.................. 6
...... 2 ± sqrt( 28 )
x = ------------------
............... 6
...... 2 ± sqrt( 4 * 7 )
x = ---------------------
............... 6
...... 2 ± 2 sqrt( 7 )
x = --------------------
............... 6
...... 1 ± sqrt( 7 )
x = -----------------
............... 3
So your answers are:
x = (1+√7) / 3 ≈ 1.21525
x = (1-√7) / 3 ≈ -0.54858

I'm relaxing here . . . why would I want to solve an equation as that ?
Another thought . . . questions as this posted during the school year often draw my mind to wonder if the person asking the question is a student trying to cheat and have another think and do their homework for them.
Additional note . . . I just looked at you past questions and they are about you asking the answer to some math equation. Trying to get others to do your homework?

3x^2 - 2x -2 = o
a x^2 -b x - c = o
x = 2 + or - (square root of 4 +24 ) / 6
x = (2 +/ - 5.3) / 6
x = 7.3/6 or -3.3/6
x = 1 and 13/6 or -11/20
