restore it to an earlier date, before you let your mouse browse. start > all programs > accessories > system tools > scroll and left click system restore. you may want to first right click it and choose 'Pin to Start Menu' for future convenience. Get a trail version of system mechanic, its a great product (I've used for years to keep my comp smooth) its an Iolo co product, that doesn't do the noodling and begging that the other spyware and virus protection companies often do./ I keep my tools > internet options privacy settings set on medium high and rely on the windows firewall...these sugesttions along with defrag should put you and keep you zippity surfin.

Vista can be extremely slow for two reason. One is that it has a ton of different processes and programs running in the background and the second reason is that it adds a lot of info to your computer registry. Lets deal with the first problem.
You can stop most of the unnecessary processes and program by simply controlling what loads up. Here is how:
1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",
click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"
You should also defrag and clean your registry. You can do this by using a good registry cleaner. The registry holds a log of all the events on your PC. This is the largest file system on your computer. Vista's registry is slightly different from other version. The page below will give you more info on PC speed and vista registry. Hope this helps!

Your first choice is to use the System Restore function and that should take you back to before you had the problem. Just select a date a day or two before the problem occurred.
The next best option is to reinstall the OS after doing a reformat of the hard drive. Only do this, if you have all the software disks for any installed programs. A big advantage to doing this option, is that it gets rid of all the preinstalled "crapware" that Gateway puts on the hard drive.
Go for the System Restore first and foremost.
Hope this helps.

There must be something to undo what you did..
Did you go to internet options and delete all the temporary files?
And yes you could do a system restore to an earlier time, that should work..
I think McAfee has an online virus scan that they can do..
I opened an e mail once and got a virus that eliminated internet explorer and would not let me install any type of browser. I had to format the hard drive and start all over.. Try the system restore

Most likely that you're running a relativity slow computer for vista, having 1GB of RAM is the requirement for running vista. I recommend you to spend about $40 bucks more on getting a RAM upgrade.
Also, try turning off Aero, that sucks a lot of RAM from the computer. The blue-screen-of-death is most likely from driver errors, make sure you check during the blue-screen which part crashed, and then update that driver.
Sometimes, you security will which on and off during updates but make sure you keep you eyes on the sites during those times.

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

Oh, my bro got a laptop that had vista on it, and his was moving slowly a lot, too, so he un-installed all these games and other useless stuff the computer comes with. It worked much faster after. Also, make sure you have excellent internet connection.

Sound like you are infected.Bring up the task manager (alt+control+del.)and check what processes are running and if less memory is available. Also check your hard drive space is reduced.Update your antivirus and run a full scan.If it find any viruses that cannot repair then format and reinstall OS.
