If a fish swim straight upward in the water fast enough to break through the surface at a speed of 5 m/s , how high can it jump above water ?

at the top of the arc, the speed is zero.

velocity = (-9.8m/s/s) * T + iniital_velocity
0 = -9.8m/s/s*T + 5m/s
(5/9.8) = T

height = 0.5*(-9.8m/s/s)*T*T + initial_velocity*T

height = 0.5*(-9.8m*5/9.8*5/9.8) + (5m*5/9.8)

it depends on the size of the fish.
