Well this is the Orlando section and you most definitely cannot drive from DC to Orlando in 9 hours. It takes about 15 hours.

Just a few hours from DC are the Poconos - once the honeymoon capital of the world. Niagara Falls would be within the 9 hour distance - also an old-time honeymoon favorite.

The mountains of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania are all within 2 hours with many secluded, scenic romantic places.

There is Also NYC, Boston, and Atlantic City.

There are some really nice places here in Vermont. My mom and dad went to the Cortina Inn in Killington, VT. The go back every year for their anniversary. The Cortina is a nice place. There are many things to do in Killington and around the hotel. For example hiking, biking, in the winter skiing and snowmobiling, ice skating. But there are many things to do. There are some really scenic drives around that area. Right now the leaves are turning and it is very pretty. Another place I would recommend would be the Applewood Manor in Castleton, VT. It is a small B&B, very quiet. Some other places I would suggest would be the Amish View Inn in Bird In Hand, PA. I have stayed there a few times and it is very nice. Also the Dayton House in Myrtle Beach, SC. Well, take a look at those and let me know if I can help you any more because I have a lot more places that I could tell you.

Depends on what your into. South is beaches, Kitty hawk (NC) and Myrtle (SC) late for that. To the west is Va and WVa both rural beautiful areas, rent a cabin go hiking, antiquing, apple picking, cave exploring, good time beautiful fall weather. To the North you've got Philly, AC (Borgata is beautiful) and NYC historical, shopping, gambling, good food, shows, etc, etc. You really do have your pick of places to go.

Definitely go to the White Mountains in N.H., if you're leaving soon. The Fall foliage is great and they have so many attractions to see. You'd love it, and it's fall so it's cool enough to snuggle to stay warm. Have fun and congratulations!
