My boyfriend is currently being harassed by his crazy ex wife. They have been divorced for 2 years and share two children ages 17 and 18. She constantly calls his cell phone numerous times if he does not answer (today was 20x by 11am) and then calls his work. Can he get a restraining order against her even though they do need to communicate for some things regarding their one child that still lives with her mother? If so, how do you go about getting a retraining order in Ontario?

You CAN get a restraining order for harassing calls. Save any disturbing messages and show via the cell phone bill the excessive amount of calls. The children are at an age where they can call their father directly. There is really no reason for her to call him directly. I am not sure how you would get it in Ontario but you may want to start by calling your local police.

Call the cops, but there probably won't be much they can do for you. Have you Googled the numbers? Sometimes this will give you some info on who owns the lines, or at least what area they are coming from. My 1st suggestion is to always keep your doors and windows locked when you are home alone. My 2nd suggestion is to change your number, it isn't that hard to do, give your friends your new number first. My 3rd suggestion is to get mace and keep it on your key-chain in case whoever the harasser is confronts you. Have your mace ready to spray when you are walking at night or are alone. My 3rd suggestion, if you are really scared that the person will be coming after you, is to move to a new place. If you ever find out who the person is, get a restraining order on them.

Call your phone company or cell phone provider and ask them. Each area is different on this matter. Your phone company will be able to tell you.

I would also suggest that he contact a lawyer. I am sure the are laws against this and a lawyer could advise him as to what he can do about this and even petition the court in your boy friends favor.

Yes you can. And the restraining order can state that they can only talk when it is something about the children. If not then it is harrasment he can get custody of the kids she will go tojail for a night or two. And she will not bother you any more.

No, it would not follow up in court: however!

You can ban phonecalls by contacting a company, this could also be considered a "harassment" lawsuit, I doubt it would end in a restraining order, but it would definately end the calls.

I believe that he CAN get a restraining order; you get it by filling out forms that you get from a courthouse. I would call the courthouse and find out more of how it would apply to your particular situation, meanwhile keep records of the harassment.

You can look in your local phonebool, and on the first few pages they will have like these "phone safety rules" and you call the number if it has harassing phone call listed. If not, I would just call 911, and ask them how to get in touch w/ someone who knows.

Make a complaint with the phone company and do not erase when she calls. Also go to the court house and file a complaint. You will then be given papers to fill out and a court date to appear. I just did this with my youngest son.
