First, the "government" is not responsible for saving you from anybody; that's your job, and that's why you have a constitutional right to self defense.

Second, for hundreds of years Americans have had the right to bear arms and it hasn't been a problem for most people.

Third, if you want to give only the government the power to defend your person and property, and want to prevent people from defending themselves using any necessary force, you will not find many supporters, and you will need to overcome hundreds of years of statutes and court cases that have ruled against your way of thinking.

I feel safer knowing that thousands of private citizens stop violent crimes every year in the USA, where the police are nowhere to be found, using handguns or whatever tools are at hand.

First, handguns do not kill. People kill.

Handguns are among the most effective tools for self defense. The fact that there are a few rare instances where some madman goes on a shooting spree is NOT an acceptable reason to deprive law-abiding citizens of their rights. The ability to defend oneself from the ill intentions of one's fellow man, or one's government is the cornerstone of liberty. It will NEVER be time to ban ANY guns in the US.

The media has made you've self belief in a fictitious component. first of all, attack rifles at the prompt are not something different than a semi-vehicle searching rifle. The media portrays them as an evil gadget, at the same time as truly they're purely different searching, oftentimes because they don't have a timber inventory, yet oftentimes a plastic one. also, the rifle used turned right into a cheap Russian SKS rifle with a common timber inventory, even with the very undeniable reality that the media lies and says "AK-40 seven", to bigger draw close a more desirable frightened reaction contained in the readers. the reality is, in an intensive-quarters surroundings, a rifle is not any more desirable deadly than a pistol. particular, the rifle is more desirable functional skill smart shot-for-shot, yet it truly is provided that the images hit their meant objective, and also you oftentimes have a lot less. The pistol could nicely be dealt with more desirable easily, and many more desirable more desirable magazines could nicely be carried on the person more desirable easily with more desirable ammo. this may were some reasoning in the back of this, now to not educate the shooters intents. the straightforward reality is that the Nebraska shooter stopped and committed suicide. If he had delivered more desirable ammo and persisted capturing, he easily could have killed more desirable as well. If the familiar public could were allowed to hid-carry guns contained in the mall, it truly is extremely achieveable lives could were saved. instead, no individual changed into able to wrestle the criminal back, they were purely slaughtered by using him. i imagine that you would agree, having a hid pistol on you in any respect situations can make you experience more desirable secure about those environments, as well as experience more desirable secure about the prospect of those wackos being obtainable to damage you in this way.

If I hit you in the head with a bucket and killed you, or if it became a national craze, would buckets be banned from use?
Once again, the gun didn't decide to kill the person, it was the individual. Do we ban all things that might kill someone?
The U.S. citizens will never give up their guns, they have the right to protect their families, property, and other assets.
You are dreaming, it won't happen.

if you do your research you'll find that the more restrictive gun laws are in an area, the more violent crime they have. Esentially what you are saying is make handguns illegal which only keeps guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens. Maybe we should just outlaw murder..oh wait, it is outlawed and it still happens.
