I'm talking about hard drugs ONLY!
Why do people try their hardest to outcast drug addicts?
Has anyone ever tried to understand someone who's oppressed by addiction?
Most people have never had a conversation with a drug addict, so why do they judge them?
Why can't society realize drug addicts are people too?
Most drug addicts have suffered more than almost anyone before they became an addict, some of them never even had a chance at life...
How come people dont have any compassion for addicts?
Why do people think that regardless of the drug the addict is dangerous and a criminal?
I want to know everything YOU think of addicts, how you treat them, how you view them, if you differentiate between them depending on their addiction... I'd also like to know if you've ever gotten to know a drug addict?

Who Loves Ya Babe - I bet almost every drug addict I know is a lot stronger than you are, not everyone has an easy life where everything is handed to them... I have a friend who was addicted to cocaine when he was 9 years old, was he weak because he was too young to understand?

So you're all saying kids who are 9 or 10 years old that are getting addicted to their parents drugs and getting caught in the trap are weak and that they understood what they were getting into?
You're telling me my friend who was raped by her dad for three years before she moved out at 14 was to blame because her only escape lead to a drug addiction?
Anyone who said I'm a drug addict is right, but I think it's unfair how we are judged... I have a job and I work hard for my money, I spend it on drugs because I got addicted to meth when I was too young to understand the conciquences... Drugs are all I've ever known, my mom is an abusive drug addict... All my friends work for their money, they aren't thieves...
None of my friends have ever gotten violent because of meth, infact they are less violent than most people...
I have never met anyone as nice as meth addicts are... They are generous and accepting... People judge them unfairly...
THEY ARE NOT WEAK PEOPLE!

i understand what u mean, i've dealt with this in my family, and i agree with u, almost everyone i know is addicted to some kind of drug, and yes drug addicts can be very selfish and do horrible things that they wouldn't do regularly, but its not them its the drugs, when a person is on drugs there not that same person anymore they are different, and those who think of drug addicts as "weak" people, have obviously never been around people with a drug addiction a lot of people i know have had very hard lives where i can't blame them for doin drugs, addiction is a disease that needs to be treated, i think people need to stop judging and punishing drug addicts and start helping them instead,

Drug addicts outcast themselves.
They are the source of their own problems. They are the one who decided to use, and the addiction is THEIR problem, not anybody else's; therefore I have no compassion for them. If they were not the cause of their addiction, I probably would.
I don't judge the addict, I just call 'em as I see 'em.
Drug addicts are dangerous--some of them become violent, and all of them are irresponsible and ruin the lives of people around them, especially if they're around kids. They're all a danger to themselves.
They need help, treatment, and rehabilitation.
I was friends with a former herione addict when I was in college. She nearly died from an OD, and once thought she had AIDS. Luckily, the test came back negative. She's ok now and has a family and a happy life.

well they think they're better because they appreciated their mind which is the mst important thing to keep you going. people don't become addicts after each problem they face. when you face problems you should work your mind that's why it's up there in your head....use it not abuse it.
but on the other hand people feel compassion for drug addicts and that's why you see lots of families sending their addicted children or other members of the family for rehabilitation.
everybody gets their ups and downs but only the weak take the addiction route. and people tend to like the strong not the weak, and that's why they don't see the real strengths within the addict. it's because he gave the looks and the impression of a weak person, and as we all know looks are very important nowadays.

Well first of all the addict is a criminal since they are buying, possessing, and are under the influence of drugs.
Then you have your druggies that steal to support their habit.
I have dealt with many drug addicts. Your generalization is incorrect. You feel sorry for them. Well let me tell you, drug addicts are like any other group of people. You have you good people that get addicted, and you have your dirt bags that get addicted. A person with an addiction should get help, but they can't get help until they want to help themselves.
I don't buy the sob story. I haven't used drugs because I was strong willed and smart enough not to use them.
How I view an addict. I view an addict as a person who is addicted to drugs. I don't have much respect for them because they don't even respect themselves enough to stop using drugs. Don't keep using drugs and then ask for free hand outs because you spend all of your money on drugs. To those that don't do that, fine. But I don't respect their way of life.

I view myself as being better than drug addicts because I do not take any drugs that are dangerous and addictive, and can cause people to hurt themselves or others around them. Drug addicts may be oppressed by their addiction but the fact remains that they got themselves into it. It was their choice to begin using addictive drugs, and thus getting hooked onto them, and therefore it is their fault that they are now oppressed by drug addiction. I have no sympathy for them because they brought their addiction upon themselves.
Hard drugs can cause people to do stupid things and in some cases to act violently. They impair one's ability to operate a vehicle. If you got in a car accident caused by someone who is high, would you be compassionate toward them?! What if someone assaulted you while they were using drugs, would you feel sorry for them then?!
And then there's the issue of how using drugs can endanger your family. Again, many people are violent while on drugs so drug addiction can lead to child abuse and domestic violence. Also many people lose their jobs because they are using drugs all the time, and then they can't provide for their children. All because they made the extremely foolish decision to begin using dangerous and addictive drugs. Should you feel any compassion for someone like this?
The people you should be feeling sorry for are the family members, especially the children, of drug addicts. You shoudl also feel sorry for the people who get injured or killed or injured in car accidents caused by drug addicts, and the people who get assaulted by them when they're high.

it truly is rationalization that lets them be cruel and grasping. slicing taxes for the wealthy is more desirable major than heating Grandmas domicile for 'conservatives'. So, they label the needy not as victims, yet positioned the blame on them. in actual reality....our monetary gadget demands that there are losers. a particular share is absolute to be unemployed or incapable of operating. a particular share of human beings in ANY monetary gadget/society are also addicts or purely undeniable lazy. The question is......can we take care of it rationally and take care of the victims, supply the 'losers' the basics, alongside with threat to flow up? Or can we declare to be better because we are not losers and ignore about any moral responsibility as a society? it truly is what the grasping Republicans favor to do. ignore about any moral responsibility and hand each and each and every of the money saved to the wealthy. the unhappy reality is that maximum Republican (or the different) electorate are a pay verify or 2 faraway from being in that 'loser' type. One ailment, maximum cancers or what have you ever, or perhaps the most financially guard operating type individual could nicely be ruined. there is not any safe practices information superhighway. And, do not for a 2d imagine that we dropped the safe practices information superhighway to save funds. No, look on the loopy spending lower than Bush......all that has been finished is that it truly is all diverted to the wealthy....the purely ones that do not favor that safe practices information superhighway.

I think you have to ask yourself, how does someone become a drug addict??? Everyone knows that drugs like crack & heroin are both illegal & addictive before they ever try them! So, since their family, friends & the general public end up having to "pay" either directly or indirectly for their addiction, for that reason alone, I don't have much sympathy or empathy for a drug addict.

Well I know you are talking hard drugs here, but I will mention alcohol...there's a couple of guys who live on the corner here and they are addicted to alcohol, I talk to them most every day.
My feeling is that any addict has help available to him, rehab centers etc. They just have to want to go.
I really don't think too highly of them...I tell them "I could understand if you had cancer, maybe you could not do anything about it, but your problem is drugs, drinking, that you have the power to overcome".

before i go any further, i am a recovering addict born to an addict. that said, addicts suffer by their own hands, they are victims of their own decisions. while i understand thier pain i feel little in the way of sympathy. our society does not tolerate addicts. programs exist to aid in recovery, if the rules are too strict or the pain is too great then they are weak and the laws of nature will undo them regardless of human intervention.

You make it sound like people are born to make decisions that are destructive. I realize that there are some who think this but that is not true. Compassion does not make you feel better then but smart then means you make right choices and help those who don't by tell them they made the mistake by their choice.
Any other school of thought has never worked to produce real long term change. Name one?
