David is right. Give the police a chance to do their job. There is plenty of time to get a lawyer if one is neccessary. It would be in the interest of a lawyer to see it go to trial. The lawyer will make more money if that happens. The police are supposed to help the innocent. Try them first.

He who represents himself has a fool for a client.

You're looking a felony conviction and serious time. Even lawyers hire a lawyer when they're in trouble. If you haven't made any statements, don't. That 'right to remain silent' isn't there just for grins and grunts. Get a lawyer and names of all of your witnesses, receipts, and give them to you lawyer, then don't talk about the case to ANYONE that may be called to testify.

If you're as innocent as you say you are, your lawyer will be able to prove it in court. Go in there without one and you may as well start liking prison clothes.

I would gather the receipts and a list of witnesses and call the detective or prosecutor on the case (depending where the case is at the moment) and offer to show them the information you have. if that does not seem to help then I would talk to a lawyer.

You need a lawyer. Even though you have plenty of proof, lawyers help you greatly especially when you have already been placed in jail and are risking being placed in jail for even longer. It would be in your best interest to get a lawyer.
