I filed for divorce last October; He moved out in February to live with another woman; it's one year later and he is still not in a hurry to have this settled. He is supposed to pay the mortgage and I pay the utilities and live in the house until our divorce is final. Now an inspector wants to come to see our property due to lack of payment. If I pay the mortgage for the months it's late, I will have to borrow money...I can't believe it's one year since I filed already. Is there ever a deadline as to how long these things can go on? We live in New York State.

We have NOT signed any agreements yet b/c we can't agree. He is never ready with any of his paperwork when we meet in court with our lawyers. So all we have are our verbal agreements said in a room with all of us. Without anything in writing, I know my credit is being ruined along with his. I think I need a new attorney. I contact her constantly and never hear back from her. Who can afford to hire another ????

If the payment is court ordered, you can file contempt charges on him...If not and he just said it to you, you may need to speak to Lawyer about this one.
I was just in New York state, loved it...Check your papers and see if you can find something with him having to or saying he will pay...

He is walking all over you. Contact your lawyer about this and get is settled. It does not take a yr to get a divorce. If things are settled already then the Lawyers are sucking you dry. As far as having to move our when the D is final and he has not paid mortgage then he is just twisting the knife in your back. DO NOT WAIT CALL YOUR LAWYER NOW AND KEEP BUGGING HIM that is what he is being paid for.

possibly you're obligated to pay 0.5 regardless of the place you reside--this is a joint asset. A separate negotiation could be so as with regard to the homestead formerly sale: the two flow out supply it for hire to defray mortgage expenses till offered, replace months to be paid by using each spouse (sounds like a combat to me ) touch a mediator back up with some form of settlement. the two events in divorce are so bitter that it opens the door to those that focus on milking that angst for all its properly worth----they the two lose and the single between gets the loot. this why we adore attorneys plenty

That's why there are lawyers.

If you don't have a legal separation agreement, he doesn't HAVE to do anything. Whatever he told you is just hot air without the signed paper. For some reason, some guys would rather lose the house than pay for it when they don't live in it.

talk to your lawyer.

what everyone else says here so far is excellent advice. you ARE being way too nice to him. he is not being nice to you? so why bother? instead of waiting for it....get into action. call that attorney and other suggestions that have been posted. everyone needs to know that he is not doing what was court ordered.
