I'll always love Christmas, but the lead up to the day itself is the fun part.

Once the 1st of November comes around, the Christmas spirit slowly starts to build up. The early part of November is when you start seeing a couple of houses here and there with their Christmas decorations already lit up. A few radio stations begin to start devoting a couple of hours to Christmas songs and stores begin to decorate as they pass out their first Christmas flyers of the season.

With each passing day, people start to become nicer to one another. As November rolls on by, more people decorate their home's exterior and it's not uncommon to see people devote their weekends to decorating.

When December finally comes around, you can really feel the Christmas spirit. Christmas music is now more prevalent both on the radio and in stores. Most TV shows begin to go on hiatus as Christmas specials begin to entertain us once more and filling us with nostalgia of years gone by.

The Advent begins at church and for some reason, it makes attending mass feel even more special.

Children begin to anticipate Santa's arrival and it's always a joy to see the excitement and wonder on their faces.

The temperature starts to cool down by December and if you're lucky enough, you can get a decent snowfall in time for Christmas. The snow and the decorations really do add something special to the entire season.

There are also many events you can attend before Christmas. You've got parades, Christmas tree lightings, Christmas carolers, arts and craft shows, Christmas parties, school plays and even visits from Santa.

Christmas Eve is the apex of the whole build up. You know it's just one more sleep before the big day and there's something very magical in the air. I feel like a big kid on that day and whenever I look out a window, I can't help but stare upwards, expecting Santa and his reindeer to fly by.

The evening is well spent in front of a fireplace, listening to music, watching specials, eating food and then going out for midnight mass. The trip back home from mass is always a delight as the world feels like it's at peace. Upon my return, I stay up a bit longer before finally going to sleep.

When I wake up, Christmas is finally here. Unfortunately, the day goes by so quickly that I wish Christmas was still a few days away. Unfortunately, the day is also short family-wise as siblings need to visit their in-laws.

Once Christmas has gone by, everything just seems to die down in a flash. The spirit quickly vanishes and some people appear too eager to take down their decorations on the 26th.

Fortunately, there's always a turkey dinner in the following days once the visit to the in-laws is done with. At the very least, there's always a post-Christmas/New Year's Eve turkey dinner.

Once the New Year comes around, Christmas is finally over and it's time to count down the days once more, but the excitement doesn't really build up until Fall comes around.

I know what you mean. Actually Christmas is more like a month long festival (or season, thus ppl say "the Christmas season"). All the Christmas parties take place long before Christmas and on some Christmases past, it was actually hard to find Christmas shows on Christmas Day. Still Christmas Day is special because the family gets together for Christmas dinner. I look forward to Christmas every year.

I do.

The time leading up to Christmas sees everyone putting up decorations, stocking up on food, sending greeting cards, setting up trees... everyone just seems so much nicer and more cheerful than usual. All the stores throw in big promotions and sales. Everything becomes colourful.

And then the day itself comes, and it's all about the useless crap everyone's bought for each other. People rush to exchange presents, sit around the table and snap at each other during dinner, or lock themselves in their room with some fancy new toy they got. The spirit vanishes almost instantly, and not an ounce of it remains on the next day.

I like the weeks leading up to it. The pressure to be in 3 different places on the actual day with two small kids is too overwhelming. I enjoy the decorating, the shopping, the wrapping, and time with family.

In ways i do, in ways i dont. My parents are divorced so i sleep at my dads and wake up there, then go to my grandmas (dads side) and then go to my moms then go to my moms moms house or my aunts. So Christmas day is good because i spend it will all of my family.
But days leading upto christmas yes because i love doing the shopping and all the excitement and everyone is happy and joyful and its just a good time and i love the snow!!
I also like going to church christmas eve! =]

i love them both. the time leading up to christmas is fun because you get to put up decorations, write and open christmas cards, go shopping, wrap the presents, put the lights on the house and spend time with your family. the day of christmas is always fun but busy. it seems to go by to fast and you wish you could rewind time to enjoy it more.
