I think he obviously did not feel any emotions from his Mother--even though he claims she said she loved him. He said she was cold to him....sad

I think it is both, the emotion leads to the action.
Now if you think love is an overused word and that action is a more accurate measure of someones feelings versus just words sometimes that may be true. But for me, if I say it I mean it, even if I don't prove it with an action every day.

Eric is a guitar God, and a genius, and IN CONTEXT, his point is well-taken.
OUT of context, as here, nope. Love is an emotion. Whether or not we perceive it to be ENOUGH is gauged by actions. I can choose to believe or not, according to my standards. No one can tell anyone else how they feel, or how to feel. It's what we do with the feeling that counts. Always.
How long ago did Eric say this? (Because everyone does what they can, WHEN they can. Over the years, I'm pretty sure he's noticed that...)

Love is the emotion. Your actions back it up. When you love someone, you want to show that love by doing things that let the person know they are special and important to you.

i disagree. With all due respect to Clapton (his music rocks my world), love is both an emotion AND an action. when you pass..a crush for example, and you get fluttery inside, thats love believe it or not. maybe its just not the type everyone thinks about.

no disagree, action springs from love but only after the emotion arises.

For him I think it's true, for me, I think it's everything.... I tell my girlfriend I love her, and that's how I feel, it's an emotion for me, and I show her I love her in as many ways as I can.
