@American2006
How on Earth was the Young Turks massacre of the Armenians a Civil War?, that is an insult, like saying the Germans massacre of the Jews was a Civil War

My point really is this, why is the Jewish Holocaust protected by Law but this one is not? Also just because ALL the people were not killed does not mean it WAS not genocide, look at the Serbian-Croatia was

He wants us to maintain a good relationship with the Turks... they are our allies.

I agree, the Turks committed horrible acts and murdered tens of thousands. The problem is that this is a century old crime against the Armenian people. Now, Turkey is a vital friend and needed to support our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Turks are a NATO ally and needs to be treated with respect.

This happened 100 years ago - let's not forget but let's not hurt Turkish - American relationships.

For once, I support the Bush administration.

Were *all* the Armenians killed? No? Then it wasn't "genocide" but it would be "mass killings".

What is your point? That at some time in the past country A killed a lot of the citizens of country B? Yes, that *did* happen many times. Every "great" civilization engaged in wholesale slaughter of someone else at some point.

bush does not deny it he just does not want us as a nation to say it happened. most of the rest of the world has already made the statement. the genocide is a fact of history and nothing we say about it will change that. by allowing a nation who we feel we need as an allie dictate to us what stand we should take on history is wrong. if the fact we believe and say we believe this happened causes turkey to be less of an allie then how reliable are they.

He just mentions the suffering of people - just because people go through hard times it doesn't necessarily mean it's a holocaust.

Either way, stop dwelling on the past. Stuff happens, and people living today aren't the ones responsible for the actions of those who lived before.

It was a civil war and by labeling it a genocide you are putting our troops in more danger.
