After an OS installation you need to immediately load the drivers. They are usually in a separate CD that came with the laptop. If CD is gone, download the drivers from the website of the laptop maker.

You should have a separate disk with your drivers on it. If it didn't come with one, you'll need to call your manufacturer's tech support and order one. Once you install the correct drivers, you should be able to change your display settings and access the internet.

Your files are gone. When you reinstalled Windows, you formatted your hard drive and erased everything on it. You should have backed them up first or did a little research before you dived right in.

All of your files are gone because when you re-install XP it deletes all of your files.

It sounds like you need to re-install your drivers, too. If you have the CDs that your laptop came with they should be on that.. if not:

I don't know what kind of video card you have, but figure out the name of the video card and search google for a driver for it. Once you install that you can change the screen size.

As for the Internet, you're going to need to download some motherboard drivers. It'll probably be the LAN drivers for your specific motherboard, so again you're going to need to know what your motherboard is.

You can probably find all of the drivers on your manufacturer's website.

You did the right thing but when you install Windows it formatted the harddrive.

When it install the graphic on your laptop, it didn't have the proper driver for the screen.

Look for a system recovery disc or a driver CD and install the drivers for the graphic card.

Go online to the vendor website that sold your laptop and find the graphic card driver according to the model.

1) find the cd's that came with the laptop and install the operating system from there. Drivers are mostly included on such disks.

2) Go to the support website of your laptop's brand. From there go to the support section and download the correct drivers for your laptop model.

If all this is too difficult, i suggest taking it to the nearest computer store and let them do it.
